Arno Schuitemaker - O S C A R

"What is it about? Three guys dancing in the middle of the audience. And then that's it. And it's great." Culture Déconfiture

In my next life, I may want to be a writer, or a poet. I would then let my future revisit my past. I would write about myself at a point in time, not too long ago, putting into words what is now in my body.

How I, often on my own, more and more felt that I was not alone. How I recognized myself, not only in the mirror, but just as much in others. How these memories turned into multiple reflections, each step turned into movement, and tracing back turned into traveling forth. How it felt when I was setting one foot in front of the other to find a new direction in life, how it felt to say:

Let me begin again.

O S C A R is an installation and performance all at once. In this intimate new work, Arno Schuitemaker searches for a renewed sense of identity after life brought you to the epicenter of a break. Bringing three performers and the audience together on stage, a mirroring floor and countless shadows create a liminal, threefold world with full transparency. Daring, tender, and propulsive, and a testament to the determination in rebuilding, O S C A R unites embodied journeys of empowerment, free of rules. No human is limited.
